Kèr àkwàgāb (/ˈəkwə/ /gəˑb/ [tap (faucet); valve] [hard; difficult; solid; dense; compact]) is a subtropical Town located in Rackyechzargeåx̄gÿh Hold, Fidhi̊si Provence, within the Dalandic Empire.

The name Kèr àkwàgāb is derived from the Tauric language, as Kèr àkwàgāb was founded by Brëkê Powelyn, who was culturaly Tauric.

Climate

Kèr àkwàgāb has a yearly average temperature of 25°C (77°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a warm 28°C (82°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a pleasant 22°C (71°F). Kèr àkwàgāb receives an average of 186 cm/y (73 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the fall. Kèr àkwàgāb covers an area of nearly 5 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 2388 m (7834 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Kèr àkwàgāb was founded durring the late 14th century in summer of the year 1292, by Brëkê Powelyn. The establishment of the new community went well, with no major obsticles durring construction.

Kèr àkwàgāb was built using the conventions of Tauric durring the late 14th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Kèr àkwàgāb is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

Kèr àkwàgāb is buildings are speckled and packed arround crampt packed earth streets with seemingly no patern to them. It appears as if the town's residents simply built streets as they pleased and squeazed buildings in wherever and howeave rpossible, creating an organic, frustrating to navigate, maze of a town. The town resides behind a palisade wall complete with battlments, a moat, and timber gatehouses with drawbridges. Unfortuantly, these robustly designed timber walls are in extreem disrepair, so much so that one cannot tell if they are decaying from a lack of mantance or damage incured.

Before you’ve even set foot into the heart of Kèr àkwàgāb, you can smell it. The incense. It hangs about the town like a cloud. Monks, priests, and clerics are everywhere, all dedicated to the same divine, all performing the same rituals to bless and anoint buildings, streets, people, animals, you name it they are or have blessed it. The same holy symbol is everywhere too. Its on buildings, on people, and even branded into livestock. This certainly loves its divine. Asside form the revrent worship, you can see the citizens are preparing for something, and that something isn’t good. Weapons are worn openly. Defensive structures have been recently constructed to guard less used areas of the town. Merchants seem very eager to sell their wares at discount prices. Something is coming.

Civic Infrastructure

Kèr àkwàgāb has an animal control department which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the control, impoundment, and disposition of animals.

Kèr àkwàgāb has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Kèr àkwàgāb.

Kèr àkwàgāb has a Gravedigger's Guild, which is responsible for collecting the dead and laying them to rest according to all applicable laws and religious customs.

Kèr àkwàgāb has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Kèr àkwàgāb has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Kèr àkwàgāb's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Kèr àkwàgāb possesses a Galvanic Power Grid, which brings galvanic current to most if not all buildings in town, and permits a great many consumer goods to function within the Town. Kèr àkwàgāb's grid is powered by hydrogalvanic generators.

Kèr àkwàgāb has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands.

Kèr àkwàgāb has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Cultural Notes

Life is hard in Kèr àkwàgāb. Its people are impoverished compared to their peers elsewhere. Something is making the locals stay, however, whether fear of the alternative, hope for a better future, or a stubborn attachment to their ancestral lands. Whatver the reason, living in this harsh area for generations has made the people of Kèr àkwàgāb a notably resourceful and hearty people.

Kèr àkwàgāb's chapel was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is known for its fluid and florid elaborate style, comprising ornate, asymmetric designs and pastel shades. It is often considered to be a playful, light style, which made exuberant use of curves and emphasized subtle asymmetry in the general shape of its structures. Walls, ceilings and moldings are decorated with numerous interlacing of curves and counter-curves based on the shapes of ‘C’ and ‘S’, along with shell forms and other naturalistic shapes.

Due to the actions of local Kami, summer is short in Kèr àkwàgāb.

The Bumblebee, Giant Worker near Kèr àkwàgāb are known to be a mutant strain of the creature.

Kèr àkwàgāb's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in spring and involves long periods of drunkenness to channel Necromancy energies of tier 2 via oath swearing.

History

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the early 2nd century heavy spring rains following an uncharacteristically dry year and a minor earthquake resulted in the collapse of the north east side of Calamity Hill. the landslide struck Kèr àkwàgāb, and devastated the community. 270 people, 182 livestock, and 23 buildings were lost to the calamity. The disaster is recorded in history as Calamity's Fall.
